28th Year on the Web

Association of Tamils of Sri Lanka in the USA

Unsolved Mysteries of the FBI

by Prof. Aaron Rajah, San Diego, California, January 22, 2008

The LTTE has never threatened any US interest in South Asia.  Not a single American citizen had been killed in the last two decades of Sri Lankan civil war. US ambassador Blake himself has stated, “ The LTTE is no immediate threat to US interests.”

J. Edgar Hoover, founder of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) once said, “Above all, I would teach him to tell the truth. Truth-telling, I have found, is the key to responsible citizenship. The thousands of criminals I have seen in 40 years of law enforcement have had one thing in common: Every single one was a liar.”

Little do the American people know that the United States’ finest and bravest law enforcement agency, the FBI, have made it their business to misrepresent themselves on various occasions.  Nowhere is this more pronounced than in their dealings with the liberation organization of the minority Tamils, otherwise known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). In the dramatic website blog that follows one will find the FBI picking on LTTE, an organization fighting for the rights of oppressed minority Tamils in Sri Lanka, a country far removed from the conflict areas of the US. The FBI web blog on January 10th, 2008 begins with quite a story, a story of lies and deception:

“As terrorist groups go, it has quite a résumé:

Perfected the use of suicide bombers;

Invented the suicide belt;

Pioneered the use of women in suicide attacks;

Murdered some 4,000 people in the past two years alone; and

Assassinated two world leaders—the only terrorist organization to do so”

The FBI’s story may be dramatic, but is quite misleading to the American public. Here are some of the facts missing from the FBI’s untold stories.

FACTS:

1) The LTTE has never threatened any US interest in South Asia.  Not a single American citizen had been killed in the last two decades of Sri Lankan civil war. US ambassador Blake himself has stated, “ The LTTE is no immediate threat to US interests.”

2) Wikipedia informs readers on suicide attack history as:  “Following the success of a 1983 truck bombing of two barracks buildings in Beirut that killed 300 and helped drive American and French Multinational Force troops from Lebanon, it spread to insurgents groups like the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka, Palestinian groups, and Al-Qaeda. Suicide bombings are now mostly associated with jihad, which involves holy war against non-Muslims.” There you have it, not the LTTE, but jihadist Muslims are involved in most of the world’s suicide attacks.

3) The FBI claims that LTTE “pioneered the use of women in suicide attacks.” The LTTE was the first organization in the world to recognize and respect women in the front lines of battle.  Following that, Tamil liberators choose to equally employ women in battle formations.  This does not exclude suicide attacks.  The FBI commentary is baffling to radically novel and maverick American women. Women are incapable of being combatants?

4) The FBI claims that the LTTE “murdered some 4,000 people in the past two years”… woow, that is the lie of the year for the FBI. According to the Sri Lankan Army commander there are only 5,000 LTTE in the tiny nation of Sri Lanka. To claim that they have killed 4,000 people in last year does not make any sense. Could it be that 200,000 Sri Lankan forces have killed 4,000 people in last year? Here we find the FBI misleading the American people and quite obviously.

5) Islamic terrorist organizations throughout the world have assassinated at least two world leaders. A claim that the LTTE has assassinated two world leaders is factually inaccurate.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is a national asset of the people of United States.  This agency is charged with protecting and informing the American people against immediate and long term threats in the new world of radical terrorism. We expect our nation’s best and bravest to be honest about the threats facing the nation.

By misportraying an immaterial threat like the LTTE, the FBI is maliciously misguiding  the United States public. The timing of the web blog against the LTTE is not coincidental, but politically motivated due to an upcoming election.  Thus, the FBI has violated the trust of the American people by hyping up the threat against the US by the LTTE.  This is, indeed ,a great betrayal to peace-loving American people.
