Poll: What should be done in Vanni, Northern Sri Lanka?

Tamils for Obama is conducting a poll among Tamils world-wide asking their opinion regarding the current situation in Vanni. The poll will be conducted for two weeks, from March 16 to March 31, 2009. Tamils for Obama is urging Tamils all over the world to take the poll and pass it on to their friends and relatives. The poll can be taken in English or Tamil.

We will probably use the results of this poll to make the world aware of Tamils' opinions regarding the current situation in Vanni. The poll can be taken in English or Tamil.  If you want to see our letter in Tamil please go to: www.Tamilsforobama.com/Polling/Tamil_letter.html

Note that we have tried to make this a balanced and non-prejudicial poll. The important  thing is not only to have a poll that Tamils will trust, but that the rest of the world can see as impartial and not aimed at getting a particular result.

The questions used in the poll are:

1. If the outside world (UN or other countries) chooses to save the Tamils and sends a military force to do this, what would you favor doing for the hundreds of thousands of Tamils encircled by Sri Lankan troops in Vanni?

2. Does the world favor a constitutional (rather than military) resolution to the Sri Lankan civil war?

3. Do you believe the world community will take any strong action to end the war immediately?

4. Tamils and others are divided in their opinions of the Tamil Tigers. How would you describe the Tamil Tigers?

5. The U.S. and other countries keep lists of countries and organizations that practice and support terrorism. Should the Tamil Tigers be included in these lists?

6. The Sri Lankan government has built what they call welfare camps. What is your opinion about these camps?

7. If Tamil Eelam comes about, what should be the Tamil Tigers' role in the new country?
