Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal (PPT) has its permanent headquarters in Milan, Rome. It was born following the footsteps of the Bertrand Russell Tribunal in 1967 on war crimes committed by the American forces in Vietnam. PPT has to date held more than 40 sessions on war crimes and crimes against humanity in many parts of the world. The Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal on Sri Lanka found that crimes against humanity and war crimes were committed by the Sri Lankan State and its armed forces. It recommended further investigations to ascertain if genocide has been committed. It also found USA and UK guilty of destabilising the peace process based on the 2020 ceasefire agreement.
