130 Civilians Reported Missing in Batticaloa under UPFA Rule

At least 300 persons have been reported missing after the SLA seized the district from the Tigers in 2007, according to Pon Selvarajah, the TNA MP in the district.

130 civilians have been reported disappeared during the three year rule of Mr Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan as the chief minister of Eastern Provincial Council, according to Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian C. Yogeswaran. 

Addressing an election meeting at Chanthive'li in Batticaloa this week, Mr.Yogeswaran questioned as to why the former chief minister did not appoint any committee to hold inquiry into the alleged disappearance of civilians.
