To each and every Tamil of Ceylon, lest we forget the daily racist humiliation (“Para Demala- rough translation: “Filthy Tamil”- a derogatory expression-equivalent to the Black Americans being referred to as “Nigger”) we were subjected to in our neighborhood, schools, public facilities at the hand of racist Sinhalese.
Let all Ceylon Tamils collectively remember the murderous rampage unleashed upon us by the Sinhalese resulting in holocaust of unimaginable magnitude in numbers unbeknown to the outside world.
How convenient it is for the murderous Sinhalese, its murderous undisciplined army and the irrational, pompous ruling elite to fix the number of Murdered Ceylon Tamils as 60,000, when in fact the number is about 4-times as much.
Every Ceylon Tamil who was fortunate enough to flee that pathetic island inhabited by the cannibalistic descendants of ‘Yukka’ and ‘Kuveni’ have been traumatized not only directly by the state sponsored terrorism of the Sinhalese state of Sri Lanka. They also have at least one member of their family murdered by the murderous army/police of the Sinhalese Sri Lanka
Who are the real terrorists?
It’s not the LTTE - the freedom fighters of the Tamil people. If the LTTE did not rise up to confront the Nazi Sinhalese thugs and its racist army, the 5000-year history of Ceylon Tamil would have been wiped out by the Racist Revisionist Hegemonic Sinhalese Sri Lanka.
Viva LTTE. Long live LTTE. On with the Re-Establishment of the pre-colonial Eelam.
The USA’s track record in foreign policy is dismal. Let the Ceylon Tamils be firm in our resolve to re-establish the state of Eelam.
The Sinhalese abhor the Tamils. We are despised by the Sinhalese.
Let the Ceylon Tamils live their lives without any hindrance to our pompous Sinhalese neighbors.
Let there be long lasting peace. Let the Ceylon Tamils live in their own land, governed by their own elected leaders and not by a government of another race that has scant regard for the lives of the Tamils.

I would like congratulate the president and all of you, on the 25th anniversary of Ilankai Tamil sangam. Ilankai Tamil Sangam has reached more people and has written on the subject of Tamils cause than probably any of us could even begin to imagine. True, it has earned the recognition among the Tamils worldwide. It is your efforts, every day, that are reaching out across the globe and keeping Tamils better informed. Certainly, I number myself as one of the biggest fans of your web site. On behalf of Boston Tamil Association I salute Illankai Tamil sangam on its anniversary and we are ready to volunteer in organizing and participating in the Silver Jubilee. Dar Editor
This is not the first time THE TIMES has done one-sided story. On 11th Oct 2001 there was a diary article regarding the incident regarding the reporter Marie Colvin’s eye, which went on to say that she was blinded by a shrapnel from the Tamil Tiger arms. In the same month there was a letter to the editor from the ‘President’ re the funding for LTTE. Last year there was also a picture of a Tamil girl dressed in Tiger Uniform with Hands & legs bound by chain supposedly being paraded by the army (this picture had my 8 year old nephew in tears).
I have tried writing to them a few times but I haven’t even had a reply. I have decided that the 13th February article was the last straw and stopped buying times from that date after writing to them. I have also asked a few of my friends and relatives not to buy Times any more.
I am glad to see that there are a few others offended by the article as well.

Thanks for exposing the Hoole Duo. Under the guise of representing an academic organisation, these guys have been bashing elected and popular Tamil representatives. One need not be a stooge to rubberstamp everything a group a person does, but could be balanced and critical. I wish someone from the Jaffna University staff also issued a statement disowning these clowns.

I am a Sri Lankan Tamil who left “Ceylon” as a boy in 1972 and have lived in Canada and Australia since. I have visited SL 3 times in the past 2 years, I am appalled at the situation of Tamils in SL and I am motivated to do something meaningful for them (us).
Thankyou for your excellent website. I particularly wish to congratulate Sachi Sri Kantha for the thoroughness of his/her writing.

Congratulations on discovering a rare document written by the veritable father of Thamil Eylom, Professor C Suntharalingam. He was a prodigious writer but with very few followers or those who promoted his works. This was because the political leaders of the Tamil people of his era found his academic genius, charisma, forthrightness and sometimes-autocratic personality difficult to handle. Giants are few and far between and prophets are least recognised in their own countries.

It may interest you to note that Yoga swamy of Jaffna is credited with forecasting - loosely translated from the Tamil - 'if the Federal Party is not destroyed it will destroy the Tamil man'. He also went on to say that Jaffna will be returned as a 'palai vanam'...

Had the Tamils not rejected the Professor, there would have been an Eylom a long time ago without so many of our children (both the equally unfortunate Sinhalese as well as the Tamils) having to perish.

I remain most grateful for your timely action to continue publishing the series on Pirabakaran by Sachi Sri Kantha. I am sure we Tamils round the world miss greatly the quality and the content of Tamil Nation website which for some pressing reasons unknown to us happened to close its site suddenly. More so as it closed at a time when the 'Pirabakaran Phenomenon" was running its 8th installment.
I have been a regular visitor to your web site and a great admirer of all the hard work you put in beside your very active professional life. Thank you once again for all your invaluable contributions. Please convey our deep gratitude to Sachi Sri Kantha for his incisive and very scientific analysis of his subject. It is almost a meta-analysis on the Phenomenon called Pirabakaran who I am sure in included in the daily prayers of every Tamil round the world.
Another writing that we are missing at the moment is the reminiscences of Dr. Nagalingam Ethirveerasingham. I wonder whether he would care to make his contributions through the Tamil Sangam?

This One Came in the E-Mail

The Bravery of the Sri Lankan Air Force.

Isn’t that amazing? I once read a novel by Tom Clancy in which a small group of trained SAS types attack an enemy weapons base and destroy it. But the odds there were something like 20 guys attacking a base guarded by 200 guys, not 14 to 38,000, as it was in Sri Lanka. Also that was fancy Clancy fiction; and you know such things do not happen in the real world. That is, until now.

Here we have match: An efficient guerrilla organisation versus a totally incompetent and corrupt regime.

  1. The LTTE contingency was detected three times before their attack. First by civilians, second by RCyAF Sergeant, and again by another AF person.
  2. The Air Force Generator (during the power cut) that was operating near fence where the LTTE penetrated was out of order for about a week and not repaired.
  3. Everyone says the group consisted of fourteen, but there are reports to say that a LTTE video cameraman was also with the group. If he was there, he must have escaped via the passenger terminal, with the passengers & staff.
  4. The four LTTE who died on the RAF side, blew themselves up.
  5. The four LTTE who died on the Runway, also blew themselves up.
  6. The two who died on the BIA ramp were shot by the Army Commandos.
  7. The two LTTE on the roof of the Terminal (civilian) and the Baggage Services area inside the terminal blew themselves up.
  8. One LTTE entered the chiller (air-conditioning) room through a window and blew himself up. When the airport was opened at 6.00 pm on Tuesday, his body was discovered after a bad smell came from the airport air conditioning ducts, in the morning of Wednesday.
  9. The Air force did NOT kill a single LTTE.
  10. The Air force killed one army commando accidentally.
  11. The Airbus A340 that was damaged had 256 Air force bullets (LTTE did not possess the same type of ammunition.)
  12. The two A320 also were damaged by Air Force fire.
  13. None of the three were damaged by LTTE fire. All three were damaged by Air Force bullets.
  14. There are nine Air Force armed guards guarding the civilian ramp of the civilian terminal. They could not shoot even one LTTE of the 6 who came to the civilian side of the airport.
  15. The first Air Force aircraft blew up at 3.50 am. The first UL at 6.10 am, the last at 8.52 am, the last or the one before the last LTTE man blew himself up at 9.00 am in the morning. This firefight lasted for over 5 hours where fourteen LTTE caused so much damage in a high security area consisting of 38,000 Air Force service personnel.
  16. The next day the Air force did a ‘combing’ operation and shot 2 civilians smoking ganja behind a bush at Nayakanda and another civilian on top of a coconut tree, thinking he was a sniper.
  17. So the Air force killed one commando, three civilians and damaged three aircrafts.

To this we add – For the next few days, the brave Air Force personnel climbed aboard their Kfirs, and bombed what they claimed ‘Tiger positions’ from the safety of the bombers flying at breakneck speed. How brave!

The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, – That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind. We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. – And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
