Do Not Cry

by Prem J.

This is quite a tough and controversial poem, so if you are squeamish, please move on to the next item. -- Editor

From the author -- Here is a song I wrote to people who ignorantly stand for non-violence. In no way does this support the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Yes, non-violence works sometimes. But to stubbornly allow fellow brothers and sisters to suffer and die is pointless. Non-violence does not always work. All Jews would have been rounded up and executed by the Nazis if the world hadn't fought them. Americans would never have experienced the joy of freedom if the Continental Army hadn't fought against the British. In the same way, the Thamil people were forced to use means of armed struggle when non-violent protest failed...Wellington, Florida

"The blood dries on the street as the sun rises in the morning.

From deep within my throbbing heart I swear I'm not a blood fiend.

More peaceful than Gandhi, who murdered another,

I will put holes in anybody [who is] after my sisters and brothers.

The twenty-first century can't be peaceful like before,

murder of billions of children without the second world war.

I believe that peace should be spread throughout the lands,

but what can you do when they come in homes with guns in their hands?

You pray to your God to spare your wife,

hoping that non-violence will save your life.

you oppose the armed struggle that protects your child,

from being raped in the street in broad daylight.

You speak of non-violence, no one has to die.

When they put their **** in your wife, all you do is cry.

You betray the armed struggle, no one should take a life.

When they put the bullet in your child, do not cry.

When they come in your home, to take what is sacred,

do you bow down on the ground as they strip your daughters naked.

Bloody and broken, forced to watch through tear-soaked eyes,

one after another, blood, tears, and semen drip down her thighs.

Choking on blood, crying in innocence, helplessness and pain,

those left with their lives, with traumatic memories and blood stains.

You would not fight because you do not think it is right.

This does not bother them with their **** in your daughter all night.

You pray to your God to spare your wife,

hoping that non-violence will save your life.

you oppose the armed struggle that protects your child,

from being raped in the street in broad daylight.

You speak of non-violence, no one has to die.

When they put their dicks in your wife, all you do is cry.

You betray the armed struggle, no one should take a life.

When they put the bullet in your child, do not cry.

When you beg at the police station for where your children are,

they slit your throat and kill your family, then bury you all.

They don't care how you feel, they want you to tremble.

Indiscriminately firing into schools and temples.

You already know that we tried non-violence so many times,

Always left on the ground with blood from bullet holes in our spines,

Turned their backs as Thileepan died of starvation,

Guilty of the plot for Balasingham's assassination.

Indiscriminately firing into schools and temples."
