Dear Major General Ulf Henriksson,
Re: Sudden demise of Major General Furuhovde, former
Head of Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, in Norway.
I am extremely saddened by the news of the untimely demise
of Major General Furuhovde. He had rendered his yeoman
service to the Tamils in Eelam through his dedicated
and diligent service as a former head of the peace
monitoring mission.
The Sri Lankan Tamils are indebted to his selfless
great service in what was a most trying job as a head of
the peace-keeping mission between The Government of
Sri Lanka (GOSL) and The Liberation Tigers of Tamil
Eelam (LTTE) at a most critical Time of the early
stage of the peace agreement.
Major General Furuhovde, while he was serving as a
head of peace monitoring mission, conducted his duties
impartially with uttermost intention of making sure the peace process succeeded between GOSL and LTTE,
thereby resolving the vested problem between Tamils
and Singhalese in Sri Lanka through negotiation.
My heartfelt condolences to you, Mrs. Wenche Furuhovde
and her bereaved family. I pray to god to give Mrs.
Wenche Furuhovde and her family all the courage and
fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
May the god grant his soul rest in eternal peace.
Yours truly,
