 Dear Major General Ulf Henriksson,

Re: SLMM Members of Denmark and Finland commendable selfless services will
be always greatly valued and remembered by the Tamils.

I wish to express thanks for the selfless services the Finnish and Danish members of
the SLMM rendered to the Tamils of Eelam through their dedicated and
diligent work since the signing of the peace agreement in February 2002.

The Sri Lankan Tamils are indebted to them for their services in the most difficult
and trying jobs as members of the SLMM in the peace-keeping mission
between the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil
Eelam (LTTE). Their great services surely saved hundreds of Tamils lives
and their properties within the last four years.

The unfortunate action of the EU in banning one
of the partners (the LTTE) in the peace process at a critical juncture
has caused the unwanted event of forcing the Finns and Danes to
terminate their duties as members of the SLMM prematurely.

I am sure you and the departing members from Denmark and Finland must have
witnessed that the Tamils have tried their best to achieve peace and their
legitimate rights through the negotiation. The Tamils have shown
willingness and maximum flexibility at the negotiating table.

As long as one party to the conflict (the GoSL) showing the
imperialistic approaches, however, without making bold and courageous moves to share
wealth and power in Sri Lanka with all its citizens without
discriminating based on their religions or languages, it will be difficult to bring the peace to the failed state of Sri Lanka.

The last few days the GoSL and its forces have been pounding the innocent Tamil
civilians from air, land and sea in Eastern Sri Lanka. The GoSL action
has made the very ceasefire null and void by this bombardment and its ground troops entering into
the LTTE-controlled area. This is an open declaration of war against the
Tamils. The GoSL is guilty of arbitrarily breaking the internationally-accepted ceasefire agreement.

 Yours truly,
 |
