CHENNAI: The AIADMK says if a government formed by the party and its allies comes to power at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections, it will move the United Nations to render justice to the Sri Lankan Tamils by holding a referendum for the formation of a separate Eelam.
“The party is determined to ensure that punishment is given through the International Court of Justice to all those who committed war crimes and genocide against the Tamil minorities during the internal strife in Sri Lanka, which was against international regulations,” said the AIADMK’s manifesto, which was released by party general secretary and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday.
The party vowed to take all necessary steps to retrieve Katchatheevu, an islet ceded to Sri Lankaby the 1974 and 1976 Indo-Sri Lankan agreements. It said the retrieval of the islet was the only solution to resolve the problems of Tamil Nadu fishermen.
It said the national fishermen saving-cum-relief scheme would be revamped for the welfare of fishermen.
