Diaspora Circulation and Transnationalism

As Agents for Change in the Post-Conflict Zones of Sri Lanka

R. Cheran of the Dept. of Sociology and Refugee Studies of York University, Toronto has written a paper entitled “Diaspora Circulation and Transnationalism as Agents for Change in the Post Conflict Zones of Sri Lanka” which does exactly what sociology is supposed to: observe a social phenomenon, link it with the wider theoretical and practical world, describe what is new and different about it and look at some of its implications. Since this social ‘phenomenon’ has been experienced by many of you who read the Sangam website because you have been involved in either traveling to the ‘post conflict zones’ or working for their development, would you like to give feedback on Cheran’s interpretations? — Editor
