Review
Pamela Constable was the Washington Post’s correspondent in New Delhi for 5 years recently. Constable’s book may be interesting reading for those who want an overview of events in South Asia over the past few years through the eyes of a Western correspondent who now has a chance to reflect on what she saw. We do get enough of this as it is, however, reading our daily newspapers. About the only story outside of immediate disasters that Constable could come up with about Sri Lanka was on child soldiers, which shows who are the sources she relys on, so one cannot expect deep insights from her about the country or its conflict. Her reactions to events might be of interest to some.
