Map of Buddhist Sites in NE by Cyril Mathew in 1970

Under the guise of Buddhist archaelology, a map of places to be occupied in the North and East was prepared in 1970. I don’t know how many of us know that Cyril Matthew (a government minister at that time) published the map openly in his book in 1980. I have prepared the (Sinhala) names in this map in Tamil.

I am publishing a big clear version of this map in my comprehensive article titled “War of Legacy – Current Phase: Archaeology as a weapon.” In this map, number 42 marks “Gurundurmalai”. Do you know how many places are targeted in total? 261 seats in total.

Now I have learned from the discussions in Sinhala that the list of places has been further increased. We are talking about the occupation of about 10 of these places. Imagine what kind of disaster awaits. This is the conspiracy to wipe out the ancestral identity of Tamils by establishing all as Sinhalese Buddhist archaeological evidence. Friends, this is why I have been emphasizing the need to rediscover the Tamil Buddhism again and again for the past few years.

வடக்கு கிழக்கு பகுதிகளில் பௌத்த தொல்லியலின் பேரால் ஆக்கிரமிக்கப்படவிருக்கும் இடங்கள் எவை என்கிற வரைபடத்தை 1970களிலேயே தயார் செய்துவிட்டார்கள். அதனை சிறில் மெத்தியு 1980ஆம் ஆண்டு தனது நூலில் முதன் முறை பகிரங்கமாக வெளியிட்டார் என்பதை நம்மில் எத்தனை பேர் அறிவார்களோ தெரியாது. இந்த வரைடத்தில் உள்ள பெயர்களையும் தமிழ்படுத்தி தற்போது தயார் படுத்தியிருக்கிறேன்.

“மரபுரிமைப் போர் – இன்றைய கட்டம் : பேராயுதமாக தொல்லியல்” என்கிற தலைப்பில் நான் முடித்திருக்கும் விரிவான் கட்டுரையில் இந்த வரைபடத்தின் பெரிய தெளிவான படத்தை வெளியிடுகிறேன்.. இந்த வரைடத்தில் 42 ஆம் இலக்கத்தைக் குறிப்பது “குருந்தூர்மலை”. மொத்தம் எத்தனை இடங்கள் இலக்குவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன என்பது தெரியுமா? மொத்தம் 261 இடங்கள்.
தற்போது அந்த இடங்களின் பட்டியல் மேலும் அதிகரிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதை சிங்களத்தில் நடக்கும் விவாதங்களில் இருந்து அறிந்துகொண்டேன். இவற்றில் சுமார் 10 இடங்களின் மீதான ஆக்கிரமிப்பின் மீது தான் நாம் வினையாற்றி வருகிறோம். எண்ணிப் பாருங்கள் எத்தகைய விபரீதம் காத்திருக்கிறது என்பதை. இவை அனைத்தும் சிங்கள பௌத்த தொல்லியல் சான்றுகளென நிறுவி “தமிழர் பூர்வீக அடையாளத்தை” துடைத்தெறியும் சதியே. தமிழ் பௌத்தம் பற்றிய மீள் கண்டுபிடிப்பின் அவசியத்தை இதனால் தான் திரும்பத் திரும்ப சில வருடங்களாக வலியுறுத்தி வருகிறேன் தோழர்களே.
