The UN Committee on Racial Discrimination (CERD) will assess Sri Lanka’s report submitted in October 2015 on August 15-16 2016 in Geneva. CERD is a committee of 8 independent experts who assess progress of states parties to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Themes to be assessed by the Committee include:
1.) Legal and institutional framework for the implementation of the Convention
2.) Discrimination against ethnic and ethno-religious minorities (arts. 2-7)
3.) Situation of internally displaced persons and non-citizens, including refugees and asylum seekers (arts. 2-7)
