We have for many years, under the leadership of the LTTE, struggled with blood, toil, tears and sweat to give meaning to a mandate given by the Tamil people more than three decades ago. That mandate is to enable the Tamil people to determine their own future, to live in peace and in freedom, secure – in their traditional homeland in NorthEastern Sri Lanka. A great opportunity is presented to the Tamil people to reaffirm the mandate and their inalienable right to self-determination.
We also have been provided with an opportunity to usher in peace and prosperity to the Tamil people and Sri Lanka as a whole. All this is taking place with the participation and active involvement of the international community.
The Tamil National Alliance is contesting this election on a platform that links our struggle and its leadership. We, the Tamil Diaspora in Britain, urge our brothers and sisters in our homeland and the rest of Sri Lanka, to provide all logistic support and participate actively in the election – to express our solidarity with our common course, our leadership and our inalienable right to self determination.
