Dear Colleague,
Upwardly Global is a San Francisco-based 501C3 nonprofit organization that helps immigrant, refugee and asylee professionals to rebuild their professional careers in the US. We are launching a new service – an online resume database. This is an opportunity for talented immigrant professionals to have their resumes viewed by top employers such as Citibank, Schwab, Kaiser Permanente and others.
We are currently accepting resumes from immigrant professionals for our database, which will launch on April 12th. We are accepting resumes on an ongoing basis, but if your clients would like to be included in our launch, please have them send resumes by April 1st. There is no charge to immigrants to post their resumes in our database.
They must meet the following requirements:
1. Emigrated to the U.S. in the last five years from a developing country
2. Have already attained permanent U.S. work authorization (no H1 type visas)
3. Have completed a four-year university program outside the U.S. and have significant work experience in home country
4. Speak English well enough to communicate with coworkers and customers
5. Comfortable using e-mail and the Internet
6. Don’t currently work in his/her career field
7. Highly motivated, lots of initiative and drive, and eager to meet American colleagues
8. Open to relocation within the US at own expense, if offered a position in his/her field.
How to refer resumes to our database:
Have your clients send an email to me, , with their resume as a MS Word attachment. In the subject line of the email they should state, “Referred by (your name): Resume database”.
They should include information about their work authorization/immigration status and a phone number where we can reach them during the day if we have questions. We will be calling each candidate to discuss his/her career objectives and validate experience/education.
