The most important factor about this movie is its timing. While a concerted effort is being made by nefarious forces to discredit the genuine liberation struggle of Eelam Tamils, this sincere effort to document the root causes of the armed struggle is a fitting reply.   The Family Man – 2 web series is funded liberally and produced with the single agenda of criminalizing Prabhakaran and slandering and character-assassinating his selfless warriors. A new generation of Tamils around the globe have been peddled with this kind of misinformation by so many vested interests.   But with the dawn of new digital media, the voices of truth have started emerging for the past decade which has been easily accessible to the younger generation.   Still, the major missing factor was the presentation of Eelam Tamil history in an artistic form.   When we talk about the history of contemporary Eelam, everything revolves around Prabhakaran since he changed the course of that History.

When handling a sensitive subject like a bio-pic of a towering personality like Prabhakaran, with a limited budget, the director has a huge challenge. Every shot has to be thought about from multiple perspectives, historical accuracy, creativity, measured emotions, and above all priority of impactful visuals over dialogues.   The shot in which the Prabhakaran as a child asks his father, ‘Why we did not strike back?”, is such a powerful shot that visually shows that the history is about to change from non-violent protests which encouraged more violence from Sinhala state.

Another impactful visual which kindles recent memory of state terror against the defenseless common man is wherein the organizer of the World Tamil Research Conference (played by Kittu, the director of the film) is killed by police by chocking his boots.   Everyone who sees this frame could immediately connect to the recent police violence against George Floyd for which there was global condemnation.

The story-telling style is much to be appreciated.   The whole story is being narrated in the “Theru Koothu’ (Street Theatre) art form in Madurai slang.   Madurai is the center of support base for Eelam Tamil struggle in Tamil Nadu and Street theater form from Madurai is a natural choice for presenting the bio-pic of the undisputed global leader of Tamils.

I do not want to disclose too much about the details of the movie since it is a visual delight which cannot be described in words.   The credit for this amazing piece of art work goes to the Director Kittu, Kuttimani, who plays the lead role with such a precision, and the entire cast and crew who had given their utmost dedication.

The least every Tamil can do is to see the movie with family and friends. The details are at

It is a moral responsibility of every Tamil to see the legal copy of the movie so that it becomes a huge commercial hit and encourages a host of Tamil creators and movie investors to produce a number of wonderful movies like this one documenting the liberation struggle of Tamils and exposing evil forces who work against Eelam Tamils.   Even after so many decades of holocaust, Hollywood continues to make movies about it.   We need to learn from that and ensure that a host of movies continues to be made about the genocide of Tamils to keep the dream of self-determination alive.
